Trade Winds Ventures, $0.10, symbol TWD on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 89.4 million; Market cap: $8.9 million), is a Vancouver-based junior mineral exploration company. Trade Winds’ major assets lie in Ontario’s Detour Lake and Red Lake/Birch Lake mining districts. It also owns a 100% interest in Dardanelle and Treasure Mountain in B.C., and Turner Lake in Nunavut. In China, Trade Winds holds an 80% interest in the Tuole property, in the Xinjiang region, and 60% of the Silu property, in Guangxi. All of Trade Winds properties contain gold, except Treasure Mountain (copper) and Silu (zinc and lead). On April 14, Trade Winds entered into a 50/50 joint venture with Detour Gold (symbol DGC on Toronto) to develop the Block A gold property, located west of Detour ’s wholly owned Detour Lake gold project.
