The company sells into three segments: government systems (53% of sales); thermography (30%); and commercial vision systems (17%). Its primary customers are government agencies in over 60 countries. FLIR also serves the commercial and industrial sectors.
FLIR’s military contracts should continue to supply steady revenues, although its commercial sales will likely weaken as a result of the recession. Longer term, luxury auto-related sales could prove to be a new market.
FLIR’s growth prospects appear limited, but the stock is okay to hold.
