HudBay Minerals Inc., $8.72, symbol HBM on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 175.1 million; Market cap: $1.5 billion), produces base and precious metals. It first sold shares to the public at $2.25 each and began trading on Toronto in December 2004. HudBay produces most of its zinc and copper in northern Manitoba, where it owns the 777 mine. This year, it’s starting up full production of copper, gold and zinc at its Lalor and Reed projects, also in Manitoba. In addition, the company is almost finished building its $1.7-billion Constancia copper mine in Peru. HudBay expects to begin production in late 2014, and to reach full production in the second quarter of 2015. In the three months ended September 30, 2013, lower copper output due to the scheduled closure of its Trout Lake and Chisel North mines in 2012, and lower metal prices, cut HudBay’s revenue by 10.0%, to $130.2 million from $144.7 million a year earlier.
