CBM Asia Development Corp., $0.18, symbol TCF on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 75.0 million; Market cap: $13.5 million; www.cbmasia.ca), is a Canadian unconventional gas company with coalbed methane (CBM) exploration and development interests in Indonesia. The company holds various interests in four production-sharing contracts. Coalbed methane is methane gas that is emitted by underground coal seams. Methane is the component of natural gas that produces energy. Producers reach this gas by drilling wells down to the coal. In the three months ended September 30, 2011, CBM used up $473,754 of cash to pay for administrative, consulting and other expenses. It also incurred $3.4 million in exploration expenses, which it paid by issuing $4.0 million of shares. CBM now holds just $882,033 in cash. CBM will need to keep making dilutive share issues at today’s low prices to finance exploration. It’s also uncertain if its exploration efforts will be successful.
