GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO., $15.59, is still a buy. The stock’s investors (symbol GT on Nasdaq) have bought into one of the world’s largest tiremakers, with 54 plants in 23 countries. This week, the company introduced a non-pneumatic tire (NPT) and wheel assembly to support autonomous vehicle transportation in a city setting. Airless tires, non-pneumatic tires, or flat-free tires are tires that are not supported by air pressure. They are used on some small vehicles such as riding lawn mowers or motorized golf carts. They are also used on heavy equipment such as backhoes, which are required to operate on building demolition sites and others where the risk of tire punctures is high. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority in Florida will be the first in the transportation industry to use the NPT on its autonomous vehicle fleet. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will use it on its Olli shuttles. Olli is a small, self-driving shuttle bus that is aimed at being a “first mile/last mile”…
