LINAMAR CORP., $65.43, Toronto symbol LNR, remains a buy for long-term gains. The company makes a variety of automotive parts, including cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. It also makes self-propelled, scissor-type work platforms, under the Skyjack brand, as well as agricultural harvesting equipment. Linamar is now buying the U.S.-based manufacturing operations of Mobex Fourth and 1, LLC. That business makes various components for gasoline and electric-powered vehicles, including steering knuckles, control arms and subframes. The company will pay $70 million U.S. for these operations when it completes the purchase by the end of this year. To put that amount in context, Linamar earned $160.8 million (Canadian), or $2.61 a share, in the three months ended June 30, 2023. It expects the new operations will quickly add to its earnings.
