We do let investors know that REITs or other trusts like Dream Office REIT pay distributions rather than dividends.

In this recent analysis, for example, we say “In July 2017, as part of a strategic plan, Dream cut its monthly distribution by 50.6%, to $0.0833 a unit from $0.125. It has also held that new rate—yielding a high 4.9%— steady since then.”

We make sure to refer to “distribution” in the analysis of REITs and other distribution payers. We also do outline the difference between distributions and dividends in Special Reports that we send to new subscribers as well as periodically to all subscribers.

Our proprietary Dividend Sustainability Rating system is applied to both dividend and distribution payers as a way to help explain our recommendations and better inform readers. Changing its name, or the name of our TSI Dividend Advisor newsletter, is not something we are currently considering.

Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to continuing to serve you.
